RAIN WATER HARVESTING

Monsoon has reached in all parts of India and many parts of country are affected from flood problem and almost every major city is facing water logging problem. If we see few weeks back water scarcity is a very big problem in many cities of the country. If we think carefully about the situation we the humans had reversed the nature cycle because we consume natural resources like anything and never plans and works to recharge them. In every monsoon season media highlights the problems of water logging, floods pictures and videos from all over India and we just pass comment about these problem but never wakes up and moves towards solution of problems.

Rain Water  must be reserved and stored for lateral usage as we knows that ground water level has gone down drastically and many regions are in dark zone because of non recharge of ground water. The reason behind non recharging is increasing in concrete area and non adoption of methods, techniques and ways of RAIN WATER HARVESTING. Rain water must be harvested in all aspects of life and at every place whether it is residential, commercial or industrial. Also our farmers must be educated to store and use rain water. On the part of government motivation in form of subsidy, guidance and awareness program etc. required to be executed at ground level not only in papers. Generally schemes / project of government takes too long to reach / execute and by the time project really starts and takes speed the time is already passed and projects/scheme become irrelevant.
For rain water harvesting Macro & Micro both kinds of methods need to be adopted.

Technical innovation required for above which are commercial viable at small and large levels.

Monsoon Raining

In this raining season whole city is flooded with water. Each highway, road, street and major points, chowks are facing water logging problem. Traffic jams due to water logging is a major hurdle. The above scene is common everywhere. Every year this situation occurs and before monsoon government, political leaders and local administration makes big claims about their preparations and activities all of which totally fails when rain starts. Sewerage system is cleaned before every monsoon but still when rain starts 3-4 feet water logging is common on all highways and roads. Recently Gurgaon Traffic jam on NH-8 and at IFFCO Chowk, Honda Chowk, etc. really created an emergency situation and whole administration / government is failed in that scenario.

I think the problem lies somewhere in basic cities planning of India because all main metro cities of India because water draining system / sewerage system is not designed / working properly. The water exist / drainage system is designed keeping in mind initial stage and scope for future development taken on that place in coming years is not estimated. Maintenance is also another major problem as government departments and red-tapism/bureaucracy is a major hurdle in implementation and completion of any work.  The solid waste/polythene during the rainy season blocks the flow of water in drainages/sewerages which in turn generates water logging problem and by the time local administration / government agencies takes action to clear that the situation becomes worst.

Another reason of above problem is that no open land area is now to absorb water inside the cities and everything is covered with concrete which stops water absorption power of earth.

Over and above that it must be thinked that how much loss of life and property happens due to above mentioned problems. Water logging damage the roads and accidents happens on these roads.

IF ANYBODY OF YOU KNOWS THE SOLUTION PLEASE WRITE.

Rain Water Harvesting

The ground Water level is going down with every passing day and in view of increasing temperature the demand of water has gone up and extraction of ground water through tubewells / hand pumps are very high. To save water and increase the level of ground water different techniques of rain water harvesting must be immediately started on pilot basis in some cities of NCR(National Capital Region) as the season of rain will start in coming months.

Every new group housing scheme which is sanctioned by government must be passed on the condition of rain water harvesting

existing group housing societies must be motivated to adopt the system.

in residential areas with the help of NGO and RWA',s residents must be pushed to implement rain water harvesting system as individual or group.

Each society park / community centre must have ground water recharge facility.

In small village rain water must be diverted to existing ponds or by creating new ponds.

Everywhere it should be done in a scientific approved way. We are standing at last stage so we don't have the time to think, ITS ACTION TIME. BEGIN NOW.

Water Problem in HUDA Sectors

Due to increasing temperature and heat, demand of water has gone up very high in all sectors of HUDA as well as other areas. Few reason behind water shortage :-

- Long power cuts (Situation has gone from bad to worst due to long power cuts because tube wells do not have hotline power supply)

- Wastage of water (on cleaning of cars, corridors, house, etc.)

- Decreasing of ground water level

- Too much over extraction

- Non implementation of Rain Water Harvesting schemes

In last few decades we have wasted water like anything and neither follow the rules nor taken the initiative to recharge ground water. Due to modernization we have created big concrete jungle and left no open space so that ground water recharge takes place when rain comes. Actually rain water harvesting has not been implemented with strict enforcement. The best way to recharge the ground water is to make provision for rain water harvesting in every household and it must be a condition when government agencies give their permission to construction the house. For existing residential areas government should invite NGO and RWA to start applying method of rain harvesting.

Still if we did not awake and don't stop wastage of water in coming 2-3 decades we may not have the water and the city will become like a desert.

2008 RAIN

This year monsoon is very good all over India and especially in North India, I hope that crops will be very good this season. I want to mention / discuss regarding the raining/monsoon in our country on following points:

·        RAIN WATER HARVESTING

If we could harvest rain water it will solve the all problem of water faced by every citizen especially in summers. But as per my knowledge we are not looking forward in this direction neither the government had made any rule and regulation regarding rain water harvesting nor any NGO is working in this direction.  We generally construct houses starting from 20 sq. yards to 1000 sq. yards and spent between 3-5 lacs to 15–25 crores for construction of house but never we thinks about creating a system for rain water harvesting and the same water blocks the drainage system and due to that water gets lodged on roads .

·        WATER LOGGING / DAMAGED ROADS

We have seen and experienced many problems due to logged water on each and every roads and our daily routine gets highly affected due to same. The solution is to make proper drainage system and the regular maintenance / cleaning of drainage system must be in place. High quality roads must be constructed in scientific manner overtaking the corruption involved so that they do not brake in rainy season.

·        Flood Control

If we use the rain water in scientific way then we can also save loss of life and asset happens due to floods in rainy season, as happened this in Bihar and Assam.

·        INFLATION

Inflation will come under control up to some extent as predicted by our some economy financial experts.

I am sure that if we take imitative about above mentioned points it will provide so too benefits to our nation.

Kindly suggest me more points for the same.
