Think Green / Save Energy

Recently I received a mail containing speech of Former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam regarding Power saving. Following are the contents : Please read and implement the steps in your office

Dear ISC Members,

I am presenting a article which came to me in my office email id regarding the Power Saving speech given by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. I am writing this resource as it.
a Think Green Initiative
Be the Change you want to see!
To all those who do not TURN OFF their
PCs, ACs & Lights before leaving the office....
Most of use from the IT field do one thing before leaving for the day from office, Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and leave happily. That means your PC is still ON.
One Normal PC in Sleep Mode (Hibernation) will consume 35Watts/hour. Based on this let's do a small calculation.
For One week, 24*7=168 Hours. Of this if we consider that we are working for 68 hours, then the PC is in Sleep Mode for 100 hours a week.
For one month, 4*100=400 hours. In a normal IT office, if we assume approximately 250 PCs are there, 250*400=1,00,000 hours (Sleep Mode), So power wasted in an office in a month is 1,00,000*35=3500KWH or units. If the charge per unit is Indian Rs 6, then totally the wastage value is approximately Indian Rs 21,000.
Here the sad thing is not the money loss to the company but the power loss to the country. (Hope no company bothered about this procedure of keeping the
system in sleep mode)
Apart from the loss to the country, we need to think of the efforts people are putting for producing the power in Mines, Thermal Stations, Hydro Electric Stations etc. If this is to continue, the cost of unit will go up, at one stage, we will not get power even if we are ready to pay any cost.
So, before leaving office, take some time to shut down the PC and do some favour to the COUNTRY
and the organisation.

If you feel that this point is to be considered, forward this to all your friends.

**Source - email received in my Office. I request Editors to Approve this Resource.
So Members, I think we can help our Country at least by doing this favour.

I would like to say that if you can not implement the steps in your organisation please implement it at your own seat, as the individual initiative also makes a big difference.

Mobile Connection

Two years back i opted for a new mobile/cellphone connection from one of the reputed company under two years advance rental plan. After two years and 10 days they sent a letter to me that your plan has expired and  please select new plan as I was not interested to continue with this number/telephone service provider i requested them to disconnect this number but they said I need to pay two bills as per new plan allocated to me without my wish otherwise the number/services would be not terminated. In short it is forced on me to pay extra without any usage. I want to say that government should make a policy that these private telephone companies do not exploit the customers through their wrong means and ways. Companies should inform the customer in 15 days advance about expiry of last date and only after that they should ask for payments.

Please suggest me whether i should pay the amount or not. Can I take some legal action against company for this mental / financial harassment. Can RTI may be used as a tool against this exploitation.

Government System

I read following lines  by someone on rediff.com in a article and found these lines very true, please go through these lines and express your views on the same.

An Olympic shooter wins Gold (Only a game) & Government gives him 3 Crores
Another Shooter dies, fighting with terrorists (Saving our country and our live) & government pays his family 5 lakhs.
1. Do not worry about those who have come thru boats...
Our forces can easily defeat them.
WORRY about those who have come thru votes....
Those are our REAL ENEMIES....
2. What a shame and disgrace to every citizen of India that the elite
NSG Force was transported into ordinary BEST buses, whereas our
cricketers are transported into state of the art luxury buses, these
Jawans lay down their lives to protect every Indian and these cricketers
get paid even if they lose a match, we worship these cricketers and
forget the martyrdom of these brave Jawans.
The Jawans should be paid the salaries of the cricketers and the
cricketers should be paid the salaries of the Jawans.
3. An ace shooter shoots and gets gold medal, govt gives 3cr, another
shooter dies while shooting terrorist, govt gives 5 lakh.
WHO DESERVES MORE? Huh.. This is our India....
4. Too much spent on Politicians security but too less on common man.
Please be a patriot and forward this to everyone u know.
Really great!!!!!!!!!!! Hats off to India !!!!!!!!!!!!

Bailout Package in India

First bailout package by Indian Government is announced yesterday amounting to Rs.35000 crores. Package will reduce the prices of cars and other consumer products. Government reduced central Value Added Tax. Package is aimed to give boost to real estate, exports,  auto, textiles, other industries and highways. It should help generate jobs in the textiles sector, the largest employer among industries. Reserve Bank had already announced the cut in CRR (Cash Reserve Ratio) and Repo Rate.  Further the decision regarding the cut in petrol and diesel prices is likely to be announced soon. Industries also announced that all the tax benefit will be passe3d to consumers. Package is announced by Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

Did the announcement of package indicate that India is also under recession and affected by Global Financial Crisis. It means that in next year the India will be also under big stress like the USA.

Commercialization of Education

Commercialization  of Education is on boom in India these days and its starting was from the days of boom in IT Sector when many private companies opened their computer training centre giving diplomas and degrees in various town & cities of every state. Most of which failed and run away with hard earned money of peoples. Similarly the concept of Distance Education launched by government in its various universities is purely business model behind it because whenever a students miss any deadline he have to pay the fines but if university misses all deadlines no measures will be taken in that case. I myself have gone through a graduate distance programme from Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar, Haryana and I never received the study material on time I have to pay the fees by end of august but I always received material in the last week of January. In last year of course for one subject A soft copy (CD) of that subject received to me only two days before the exam. I want to say that when government universities will act in this manner what can be said about the private institutions.  Universities are making money out of distance courses but nor providing services to the students. Dispatch of syllabus, study material is not done. No deadlines are mentioned for the staff to provide books and other required things to students on time. Last year one student doing M.Com from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak through Distance Programme and gone to collect study material at the study centre in December , he received only three books out of six subject and told that university had printed only 3 books and rest of the books are not printed and given by university. What the university is charging for, when they do not give study material to the students it means they are just selling degrees, its shameful that no body is their to take care of these things. No one is raising a voice against them. M.Com (final) year syllabus is not sent by university and neither it is available on DDE site/MDU site. I think no audit system is their for all these things.

Staff involved in printing of study material eats the money and which is clearly corruption. I want to say please don't break the backbone of education as it will lead to disaster.

How Safe is our Nation?

Now Mr. P Chidambaram has taken control of Home Ministry and Mr. Shivraj Patil resigned by taking moral responsibility for Mumbai attacks. Other Parties too have started making comments and Prime Minister himself have called all party meeting in which he talked about setting up of a federal agency and increased co-ordination between navy, coast guard and other agencies. He also announced for setting up of four centres of National Security Guard in various part of country but I want to know why these steps have not been taken earlier and after Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Delhi Blasts. We all knows the speed of work in government system, did government working against any deadline to complete the setup of federal agency. In how much time NSG centres will be setup and in which areas.

Government have also not taken any measure steps against Senior Intelligence Officials of IB (Intelligence Bureau) & RAW (Research & Analysis Wing). Why always these agencies fails to give accurate information.

When everybody is aware that after Delhi Blasts, Mumbai is on hit list of terrorists why the security is not strengthened and what steps have been taken by Government when they received information that attacked may be by sea route.

I know that everyone will forget and calms down , all political parties will forget about it and speak about new topics. Security agencies will also got relaxed and the terrorist will take benefit of it and will prepare themselves to attack me, you and our nation, why we do not eliminate the terrorist camp working outside  India by hitting them hard. All the peace process steps between India and Pakistan must be need to be reviewed again.

Lets see what happens till the end of this year.

As my household budget is already under tremendous pressure and I am not able to meet my regular requirements.  I am working hard and most of my holidays goes in office and I am also putting extra hours in working so should I ask my boss for appraisal.

Attack on Mumbai

The financial capital of India attacked again and more than 100 peoples died in the attack including some foreigners and more than 300 are injured. The famous Taj Hotel is under fire. It is sad that Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) Chief Hemant Karkare, Additional Commissioner Ashok Kamte and known encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar were killed outside Mumbai's Cama hospital when terrorist throw the grenades on Police and ATS team. Some other police personals are also killed while fighting with terrorists. School & Colleges will remain close today and all the international flights from Mumbai has been canceled. Stock market will also remain close. In Taj Hotel and Trident Hotel (Oberoi) terrorist have made hostage of peoples and most of them are foreigners. As per the witnesses terrorist were looking for Americans and British peoples. Taj Hotel is the heritage of Mumbai is under fire and army and navy commandos are their for rescue. NSG Commandos and sharp shooters from other security agencies have also reached Mumbai to curb terrorist. Home Minister Shivraj Patil himself have reached Mumbai while Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is reaching their and requested the Mumbaikars to remain calm. President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have condemned the attack. Other VVIP are also visiting Mumbai which is not good as I think will increase the problems of security agencies and affect the relief operations.

The Terrorist attack in hospital shows that terrorist have no humanity inside them and they are totally against whole world.

But it should be noted that Police teams are not trained properly and do not have enough modern weapons to to fight the terrorist attack due to which we are losing our brave police and other security personals. Their must be some special team equipped with latest technology and modern weapons present on 24 x 7 x 365 basis in every city which is highly sensitive from terrorist attack point of view.

At last Salute to Every Soldier for their invaluable sacrifice.

Starting Business

Right now whole world is going through the recession. Economies of Developed countries like America are under tremendous pressure and growth rate of economy of India is also less than the previous year. Moreover everyday news about job cuts and fall down of big companies rocks everyone. Before the start of recession, I mean two-three months back one of my best friend is planning to resign from his private job and starting his own business but now he come to know that financial projections developed by him have totally changed due to increase/decrease in prices of raw material/finished product. He is under fear that whether he will successful or not in new business or should he wait for sometime to start his business or he should go aggressively ahead and take benefits of market recession.

I have advised him to wait till the completion of central government election due in next year and analyze the situation after that as US New President will also stabilize in his Office and steps taken by government of every country will also show their results.

Dear Friends what would you suggest him.

Sunday

Oh yesterday I spent my whole Sunday at office working for some urgent project. I spent more working hours than regular working days but I know that I will not get any appreciation/benefit benefit for the same although I burned the fuel of my own vehicle for official purpose and in between need to change punctured tyre of my two-wheeler for which I have to spent Rs.40 extra. Now I am planning to claim for all the fuel burnt for official purpose in last two fortnights to save my pocket.

Crowd Management in Indian Temples

We generally take the news of deaths due to bomb blasts, terrorist attack very seriously and media, politicians & leaders, common men, everyone discuss and speaks about it but we never thinks and seriously investigate the issue of stampede/mismanagement of crowd at famous / big temples of India. Administration, Law & Order Agencies rarely take interest to deeply search the reasons behind killing / injuries due to large rush in temples. None of the temple management committees takes steps before the important fair/festivals/events for management of crowd. Recently more than 200 persons killed in Chamunda temple at Jodhpur, Rajasthan due to lack of arrangements. Most of the victims are young age persons.

Although temples receive huge funds from devotees in form of donations but the funds are rarely used for development of system in temples. Here it is important to mention that Shri Triupati Balaji temple and Vaishno Devi temple have good system because of of right use of funds.

Funds earned in the form of donation generally goes into pockets of individuals which ultimately affects the devotion of visitors and reduce the religious faith of anyone so I think all the big temples authorities must be controlled by a national temples management board consisting of government nominees, religious leaders, local authority representatives. Authority must be given to local authority but must be managed by National Temple Board.

Extra funds received must be used for the welfare of society.

Badarpur

Do you think that construction of metro rail will reduce chaos/traffic at Badarpur Border and when it will complete. The construction of flyover from Badarpur Thermal Power Plant to Sec-37 in Faridabad is not started till now so don't think about its completion period. Currently their is too much rush from Jaitpur Mod to Aali Mod and during peak hours the situation is unbearable. In the night when heavy traffic starts moving in and out from Delhi the congestion is uncontrollable.

What is the solution for the same when we know the government machinery is not able to built the Badarpur Flyover soon due to some malign interested peoples having impact in streets of POWER & Administration and because of delay the cost of construction for flyover has increased several times.

Do you think that any one interested to work for this work can take any particular step so that the work for the flyover will start as early as possible or can we take initiative to make some group who work towards the development of Flyover within prescribed deadlines.

Please suggest solutions which comes to your mind.

Best Indian Cricketer

India had produced a number of great cricketers like Gavaskar, Azharuddin, Srinath, Kapil Dev, Kumble, Ganguly, Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sehwag, Dhoni and the list is endless. Since the inception of cricket in India if we wants to measure that who is best cricketers what criteria should be undertaken.

Should Kapil Dev be treated as Best cricketers because of World Cup or Sunil Gavaskar must be because of performance and records or our little master Mr. Tendulkar because of his long ongoing journey through the corridors of cricket. Sourabh Ganguly is the successful captain while Rahul Dravid (Mr. Cool) is solid batsman, Sehwag due to his good batting skills and again Mr. Dhoni have brought the T-20 world cup to India.

Please mention your best cricketer.

Internet Browsers

In starting I used to browse the Internet with the help of Internet Explorer (IE) 5 and  then upgraded to IE 6 but facing some problems many times due to technical errors.

Then I switched to Mozilla Firefox 2 and feel happy using google toolbar and tabs feature provided in it but it also started giving problems and upgraded to Firefox 3 but that did not help me and in between listened about launch of browser from Google i.e. Google Chrome. Google chrome also gives facility of tabs but the nice thing is it gives icons of recently browsed webpages. In starting I am under the impression that it is faster than other browsers but soon it started giving problem of hanging ("Kill pages" or "Wait") so now I see one website in chrome when chrome gives problem, i move to firefox and when firefox bent down i use IE and in case IE. It is a complex situation for me as IT has a old look and did not have tabs features. Also IE is more under the reach of spywares and viruses in comparison to Firefox and Chrome.

Let see what is next, i am waiting for new version of Google Chrome.

Hindu Organisations

Since last few fortnights their is too much coming in print and electronic media for ban on Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad due to violence in Orissa and Karnataka. But due to political compulsion Prime Minister and his cabinet is not able to take any decision regarding the same. An interesting fact I would like to mention that website of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad is not accessible, the reason behind it is not known to me.

I am a Hindu and believes in Vasudeva Kutumb Policy, if these organisations are trying to stop religion conversion than they should work in positive way by checking the reason behind the will which comes into mind of any individual/family. They may be facing poverty problem, exploitation from senior caste peoples or many other issues. Bajrang Dal and VHP should try to fight against these issues/reason so that their will be no religious conversion. If any religion conversion happens forcefully they must notify law & order agencies, government and media as well. But do not take laws in your hand and stop killing innocent peoples. I think media should also come forward to check the incidence of forceful & financial religious conversion incidents and bring the truth in front of nation.

I request all peoples to come forward to stop fighting in the name of religion. We all should respect religion of each other and must try to protect our religion by addressing/working for the reason behind the frustration of peoples who are interested to change their religion due to exploitation/financial problem/social problems.

I have no intention to hurt the sentiment of anyone, if you found anything wrong in above article please inform me.

Chandrayaan-1

Chandrayaan

India's first unmanned moon vehicle launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota on Wednesday mounted on PSLV.ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair declared the launch successful and the news brings the smiles on the faces of all Indians. Now India is the the sixth nation after the US, Russia, European Space Agency, China and Japan, to send a mission to the moon.

Chandrayaan will take around 5 days to get to the moon. Its mission is high-resolution remote sensing of the Lunar surface in visible, near Infrared, low energy X-rays and high-energy X-ray regions and prepare a three-dimensional atlas (with a high spatial and altitude resolution of 5-10m) of both near and far side of the moon.

It will also conduct chemical and mineralogical mapping of the entire lunar surface for distribution of elements such as Magnesium, Aluminum, Silicon, Calcium, Iron and Titanium with a spatial resolution of about 20 km and high atomic number elements such as Radon, Uranium & Thorium with a spatial resolution of about 40 km.
